Our shops accept a wide range of items

Our charity shops take a range of items, including:

  • furniture
  • bikes
  • electricals
  • clothes (in particular men's/women's designer brands and vintage/retro clothing)
  • bric-a-brac
  • books (including vintage or collectable editions)
  • toys
  • DVDs
  • records (7, 10 and 12-inch vinyl records)
  • video games (vintage console games from the 1990s/early 2000s)
  • shoes (of any kind, so long as they’re in good condition!)
  • collectable items (including coins and stamps)
  • jewellery
  • ornaments (vases, bowls, crockery)
  • premium photography equipment (such as cameras, tripods, bags, filters, lenses)

If you have something you no longer want or need, why not donate it to your local Sue Ryder charity shop?

It might be exactly what someone else is looking for and helps pre-loved items to be reused, reducing waste and improving sustainability. And you’ll be helping us to raise vital funds to support our expert care and grief support at the same time.

How to donate items to charity

There are a range of ways to donate to our charity shops, including:

Our free furniture collection service

Our free furniture collection service makes it easy to donate your unwanted furniture items. All you need to do is enter your postcode and we’ll be able to tell you if we can collect your donation.

If we can, we’ll ask you to tell us a bit more about the items you’re donating, and you’ll need to choose a date for your collection. We’ll then get back to you confirming all the details.

In-store

You might prefer to bring your donation to one of 400 charity shops instead. If you would like to drop off your donation, please contact your local Sue Ryder shop to check the items they sell and before making your journey.

Donating clothes to charity

Looking to clear out your wardrobe or de-clutter? You can donate your unwanted clothes to charity by dropping them off in your local Sue Ryder shop.

Corporate donations

If you are a business or organisation and have a corporate donation you would like to discuss with us, find out more or contact our corporate donations team on retail.donations@sueryder.org

How your donations help

Big or small, your donations help us provide more care to more people during the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness or the death of someone close to them, we’re there when it matters.

  • Donated items that raise £30 could pay for one hour of our expert care, helping people live the best life they possibly can.
  • Donated items that raise £50 could go towards grief counselling sessions for people coming to terms with the death of someone they love.
