Sue Ryder comments on latest delay to adult social care green paper
The government has confirmed today that the Green Paper on adult social care has been further delayed and won't be published until next year.
Originally announced by the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, in the 2017 March Budget, the green paper and future funding options were due to be published in the following autumn, but this was amended to summer 2018 before this latest delay announcement.
Heidi Travis, Sue Ryder Chief Executive, comments on the further delay to the Green Paper on social care:
“This most recent delay to the adult social care green paper is a real disappointment.
“Social care funding is an urgent issue and along with the realities of an ageing society, it is critical that we find a sustainable solution.
“It is quite simply unacceptable to have a social care system that is not effectively funded to meet people's needs.”
