Sing for Life returns to support Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice
Launching in September, Sing for Life will sign up 40 or more local women to take part in a ten week pop-up singing project. Working towards a fantastic live performance event at The Cresset on Friday 13th November, all funds raised will be supporting Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
Will you join the next Sing for Life choir?
Imagine stepping onto the stage at Peterborough’s Cresset Theatre alongside dozens of other local women, performing to a live audience, making new friends and raising money for a cause that matters.
This September, Sing for Life is returning to Peterborough, inviting 40 or more local women to take part in a ten-week pop-up singing project in support of Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
No auditions. No previous singing experience. Just a chance to challenge yourself, build your confidence and discover what you can achieve.
By November, you'll be part of a choir performing live on stage while helping to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder's expert end-of-life care, ensuring local families can access support when it matters most
Sing for Life is not about finding the next Adele; it's about helping ordinary women find their voice.
Will Prideaux, Sing for Life project director
Why take part?
Sing for Life is about much more than singing. It's an opportunity to:
- build confidence and try something new
- meet like-minded women and make lasting friendships
- learn new songs with expert guidance
- experience the thrill of performing live
- support Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and local families.
“Everyone has a song they love singing in the car or at karaoke. We simply help them find the confidence to sing it together with others. The real transformation isn't just in their voices; it's in the friendships they build, the confidence they gain and the pride they feel when they step onto the concert stage together."
- Will Prideaux, Sing for Life project director
No auditions, no pressure
The project begins with introductory sessions at The John Mansfield Campus in Dogsthorpe on:
- Thursday 8 September (7pm -10pm)
- Friday 9 September (7pm - 10pm)
- Saturday 10 September (2pm - 5pm)
These relaxed sessions are a chance to meet the team, get to know other participants and find out more about the project.
Don't worry, there are no auditions and no big red buzzer. All you need is a willingness to step outside your comfort zone and give it a go.
You only need to attend ONE of these sessions.
Please register for an introduction session today by emailing: info@peterboroughsings.org.uk or calling 01733 425194.
Let Peterborough Sings! know ASAP which session you wish to attend, and they will give you a time slot to minimise your waiting time.
Join hundreds of women who have already taken the leap
After a record-breaking year in 2021, more than 100 women took on the challenge, many singing in public for the very first time. Together, they raised almost £10,000 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice.
Participants describe the experience as life-changing, helping them discover confidence, form new friendships and experience the joy of singing together for a shared purpose.
Raluca and Reka took part in last year’s event. They both got so much out of the experience, including making new friends and feeling the sense of togetherness when singing with others.
Raluca says: “Sing for Life showed me how music and the expert guidance of a conductor can turn total strangers into a performing choir in just a few weeks. The journey from the first rehearsal until the much-anticipated concert night was an exciting adventure of finding new friends, learning songs from diverse genres, and discovering the synergy of singing in a group for a greater good!”

Reka agrees, saying: “Sing for Life was a fantastic thing to get involved with soon after moving to Peterborough. I got an endorphin boost every week doing what I love with like-minded, kind people. It was great to make new friends, be part of something bigger and raise money for charity!”

"We're completely in awe of the passion and dedication participants bring to this project and are incredibly grateful for their support. Every pound raised helps Sue Ryder continue to ensure that no one has to face the hardest times of their lives alone. We'd love more women to join this year's project and lend their voices to a cause that truly matters."
- Annette Mawby, Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice
“I wanted and needed to do something to help. The care given to my dad was out of this world, so I am raising money for a charity which really needs our donations.” - Pippa, who organised a sponsored cycle in memory of her dad, Paul.
