We understand that visiting loved ones is crucial to the health and wellbeing of all our patients and clients, and the safety of the people in our care remains of paramount importance.

For International Nurses Day on 12 May, we're sharing Nursing Assistant Carole's story, who is celebrating 25 years of dedicated service at Thorpe Hall Hospice. We hope her experience inspires others to take up a nursing career in palliative care with us.

Barry Whaite was admitted to Sue Ryder Neurological Care Centre Lancashire in April 2020, his head the only part of his body he could move independently. Barry spent all of the first national lockdown undergoing physiotherapy and rehabilitation, but in August 2020, he left the centre, walking again with help from a walking aid.

Stuart Fisher, 69, has been a volunteer at Sue Ryder’s specialist neurological care centre, The Chantry, for more than five years. He drives residents to appointments, takes them on outings, to visit family and also visits a particular resident once a week for coffee, a chat and the occasional game of Scrabble.
