Run the beautiful trails of Bolton Abbey Estate. Choose from a 10k, 10 mile, half marathon or a fun run for all the family, helping us raise crucial funds for the expert care we provide at Sue Ryder.

On the day

Run Bolton Abbey is a popular trail running event where hundreds of runners take part in various distances in the stunning scenery of Bolton Abbey Estate, raising much-needed funds for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

There is a choice of distances to suit all abilities of runners. A 10k, 10 mile, a half marathon and a 2.3 mile fun run. This is a unique opportunity to run on parts of the estate not usually accessible to the public and we guarantee the autumnal colours will be stunning!

This year, rather than presenting a medal to all finishers, we will be planting a tree in the Bolton Abbey Estate for every participant who crosses the finish line.

Fundraising for our care

There is no minimum fundraising target for this event. However, we ask participants to raise as much money as they can in support of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

The routes

There is a choice of distances to suit all abilities of runners. A 10k, 10 mile, a half marathon and a 2.3 mile fun run.

The routes are on a mixture of paths, tracks, woodland trails and open land. All routes are challenging trail runs that start and finish just across the river from the Cavendish Pavilion.

Route maps

The races will start in waves just after 9am, and at the start/finish area we will observe a one minute silence for Remembrance Day at 11am.

All participants benefit from chip-timing and this year we are planting a tree for every person taking part in the Run Bolton Abbey event.
