This event has now sold out and ticket sales have closed. Unfortunately, we are not accepting entries on the day.

Join us for the five mile Solstice Saunter 2022 at the beautiful Bolton Abbey Estate on the longest day of the year and help raise vital funds for Sue Ryder.

Run through the Bolton Abbey Estate

The Solstice Saunter is a five mile run on the trails of the breath-taking Bolton Abbey that is organised by the Airedale Dodgers as a fundraising event for Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. The event, sponsored by JB springs of Skipton and Ecology Building Society, is always held on the evening of the Summer Solstice, which in 2022 is Tuesday 21 June.

Whilst most participants come to Bolton Abbey to take part, virtual entry (where participants run a five mile route of their own choice on the longest day) is also available and virtual runners are sent their bespoke medal in advance to wear with pride after their saunter.

With the help of our new headline sponsor, Ecology Building Society, we are also making the event free of single use plastic water bottles for 2022.

The route

The Solstice Saunter is a near circular route of five miles that starts and finishes near to the Cavendish Pavilions. It leads participants upstream through the Strid wood to Barden Bridge, then back along fields, Storiths Road and the riverside path to the finish.

The route goes along tarmac and gravel paths with a short section on grass. Every participant will receive a bespoke Solstice Saunter medal.
