Volunteers gear up for Sue Ryder St John's Hospice's first ever PaintRush event

'Let’s colour St Neots every shade of the rainbow in 2020 for our local hospice.' That’s the message from a big hearted group of volunteers as they work to bring the first ever PaintRush in support of Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice to St Neots next year, raising vital funds for families needing its expert palliative care and bereavement support.

Help support a truly special place

The 5k family friendly ‘full of colour’ fun run, supported by Cedabond, takes place at Priory Park, St Neots on Sunday 29th March. Online registration is open now and you can sign up here.

It’s being organised by a group of big hearted volunteers to help raise vital funds so Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice can be there when it matters for local families from across Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

Chelsea Zwetsloot is on the committee of volunteers helping to organise the event. She said, “PaintRush is a bold and beautiful event that will really brighten up your 2020. We hope to welcome hundreds of people to walk, jog, skip or run while getting showered in multi coloured paint in support of a much loved local charity which makes such a big difference to many local people.”

“You’ll cross the finish line covered in colour with a big smile on your face, take home some amazing memories and experience the feel good factor of helping families when it matters most.”

“We wanted to put on a special event to help support a truly special place, which is close to the hearts of many of us on the volunteer committee. I will never forget the phenomenal care they gave to me and my family when my grandad was cared for in their inpatient unit. We’re doing this to give St Neots a brand new fundraising event and to give back to our local hospice too.”

A day full of colour

Tori Ablard, Head of Hospice Fundraising at Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice said, “2020 is an exciting year for us as the first ever PaintRush in support of Sue Ryder St John’s Hospice comes to Cambridgeshire, in what will be our 40th year of providing care here. We couldn’t think of a more colourful way to celebrate this milestone, while raising vital funds for families needing our expert and compassionate palliative care and bereavement support.”

“We’re thrilled to have such a fantastic group of big hearted volunteers making this happen with the support of Cedabond. One of our sister hospices regularly holds PaintRush events, and feedback from the hundreds of participants, many who return year on year, is that it’s a one of a kind feel good event for all the family.”

“Come along and enjoy a day full of colour and raise vital funds for our Sue Ryder Nurses and care teams.”

Starting and finishing at Priory Park in St Neots, there will be a vibrant and fun warm up and atmosphere and refreshments before setting out on the 5k fun run dotted with paint throwing stations.

With the event expected to be extremely popular, PaintRush participants are urged to sign up early to avoid missing out.
