Volunteer Voice
At Sue Ryder, we have an annual survey for all our volunteers called Volunteer Voice. The feedback you share via the survey helps our Volunteering Team to understand what is working well and where we can make improvements so your experience is the best it can be.
Volunteer Voice 2025 survey
This year, 1,053 of you took the time to share your thoughts on volunteering at Sue Ryder. Thank you to everyone who took part!
Your survey feedback
The 2025 survey results were very positive and highlight lots of areas our volunteers feel are working well.
We were really pleased that two of the highest scoring statements were:
- ‘I would recommend Sue Ryder as a place to volunteer’
- ‘Sue Ryder is a great place to volunteer’.
This is excellent. It tells us that our volunteers generally enjoy being a part of Sue Ryder and feel happy in their roles, which is great to see.
While all statements had high scores, there are some slightly lower scoring areas that tell us where we can make changes to improve the volunteering experience.
The Volunteering team will use this feedback to make improvements over the coming months. Be sure to check the volunteering e-newsletter to keep up to date with any changes and news.

Volunteer Voice action plan
The Volunteering team is currently working on a plan to make your volunteering experience even better, based on what you told us in this year’s Volunteer Voice survey.
The action plan is being created with input from our Volunteer Forum, and it will include lots of new initiatives and resources. This plan isn't just a list of tasks, it’s our commitment to fostering an environment where every volunteer feels valued, supported and empowered.
Here is a snapshot of some of the initiatives we’ve already begun to rollout:
- We are increasing the visibility of the Volunteer Inclusion Passport. This tool is vital for helping us understand and meet the individual needs of our volunteers.
- We are committed to supporting our volunteers' personal and professional growth. This October, we will be hosting Careers Month, providing resources and workshops to help volunteers use their skills and experience in the paid job market.
- We are developing a centralised catalogue of training and development opportunities for volunteers.
- As part of our commitment to your wellbeing, we're introducing an annual ‘Health and Happiness’ check-in. This will provide a structured opportunity to connect and ensure you feel well-supported in your role.
- We are also exploring how we can improve our real-time communications, keeping you better connected to our work and each other.
This is just the start, so keep an eye on the Volunteering Hub and the monthly volunteer e-newsletter for more updates.
