Alan Bowers, Chief Operating Officer

Alan became Chief Operating Officer in April 2021. This role has responsibility for all of our charitable healthcare activities.

Alan returned to Sue Ryder as Chief Financial Officer in March 2020, having previously served as Finance Director from 2016-2019. In September 2020, Alan also took on the role of Interim Director of Hospices, in addition to his role as CFO.

Alan is a Chartered Accountant with a background in commercial and strategic finance. He has spent the latter part of his career in senior finance leadership roles in the healthcare and not-for-profit sectors.

His first period with Sue Ryder covered the cost transformation work which stabilised the charity’s finances and the subsequent development of our growth strategy. Alan is committed to delivering Sue Ryder’s ambition to provide more care for more people.
