Join us for the Winter Solstice Strider 2022, a 5k or 10k head torch evening run through the St. Ives Estate, Bingley, on the shortest day of the year.

Wind through the woods on the shortest day

The Winter Solstice Strider is a brand new sister event to our popular 5 mile Summer Solstice Saunter. This event takes place on the winter solstice on 21st December and is a head torch dark run of either 5k or 10k.

The run starts at STRI, the Bingley-based global design, engineering and management consultancy, winding through the woods and, fittingly, past Druids Alter within the St. Ives Estate at Bingley.

The routes

You can choose from a 5k or 10k route through the St. Ives Estate.

Take part in person or virtually

Whilst we anticipate that most participants will come to the St. Ives Estate to take part, virtual entry, where participants run a 5k or 10k route of their own choice on the shortest day, is also available and virtual runners are sent their bespoke medal in advance to wear with pride after their saunter.

As usual with our solstice events, all participants will receive a fantastic bespoke medal (shown above), this year featuring a hedgehog by moonlight. The event is supported and sponsored by our hosts at STRI and the St. Ives Golf Club, who provide a large proportion of the free parking that is provided for participants.

However you take part, the vital funds you raise will help to support our expert, compassionate care and fill someone's last days with love. With your support, we can be there when it matters for families going through the toughest times of their lives.
