Sue Ryder Lights of Love Bedfordshire invites you to remember and reflect upon special memories of loved ones in the company of others within your community who are also living with loss.

Remember and reflect upon the lives of loved ones

We understand when someone dies it can raise a range of emotions and we hope Lights of Love will give you a small measure of comfort and reassurance that you are not alone. It is an opportunity to give thanks, leave a dedication in memory and collectively celebrate the lives of people who have died that have meant so much to us.

The Lights of Love service

The service shall be led by Spiritual Care Coordinator and Chaplain B Grace, and supported by the Family Support Team. The service will consist of live music from the St John's Hospice staff choir, along with special readings and a peaceful moment of reflection. There will also be an opportunity to leave a dedication on our trees of light. The service will be followed by festive refreshments served afterwards.

The venue is situated in the heart of Bedford town centre with disabled access to the Harpur Suite building. We would recommend using any of the town's central car parks, these include River Street car park, Riverside car park or Lurke Street car park.

Caring for families across the country

Last year Sue Ryder provided over 830,000 hours of care to thousands of families across the country, including from our Sue Ryder St John's Hospice.

At Sue Ryder, we offer a range of free bereavement services that can help you live with loss. Lights of Love is open to anyone who wishes to commemorate a loved one, regardless of when they died and if they were a former patient of Sue Ryder.

We recognise this time of year can be more difficult, so we hope you will join our Winter Lights of Love this December to pay tribute to your loved one who is no longer with us.

Christmas Eve candle lighting

Join us on Facebook alongside hundreds of other people this Christmas Eve from the comfort of your home, to light a candle in memory of loved ones in a moment of reflection.

Create your own candle dedication

If you would like to remember a loved one at home, we also have a printable Lights of Love dedication candle. Once you've written your dedication message, you can display the candle somewhere special or even hang on your Christmas tree.
