Finding comfort and connection through grief: Celebrating 10 years of our Online Community

16 Oct 2025

In 2025, we mark a powerful milestone - a decade of connection, comfort, and understanding through Sue Ryder’s Online Bereavement Community. Born from our partnership with Morrisons and money raised from it, this space, our first national service, has grown into a lifeline for thousands across the UK.

A video tribute to shared strength in grief

To honour this 10-year journey, we’ve created a moving short film featuring four brave members who share how the community helped them navigate the darkest moments of grief.

Thank you to every member who agreed to feature in this video.

You’re guaranteed to find somebody feeling the same way as you. And although it won’t take the grief away, it does make it better, because we can do it together.

A growing network of support

Since its launch in June 2015, the Online Bereavement Community has grown from just 486 members to over 41,000 users in 2024–25.

With more than 88,000 posts and 642,000 visitors last year alone, it's a vital space for anyone coping with grief, or end-of-life care, to find connection and support.

72% of our members say the community helps them feel less alone.

That’s the heart of what we do - building a society where no one has to face death or grief alone.

Why the community matters

The support that our members so generously give and receive, each and every day, is what makes the community so special.

Their voices remind us why this community matters - and why it must continue to grow, playing a key role in our vision of a society that supports everyone through dying and grief.
