Fast and flat, the Edinburgh Marathon was voted the fastest marathon in the UK by Runner's World. It's ideal for your first marathon or if you're looking for a personal best.
The Edinburgh Marathon has been postponed in response to COVID-19, and will now take place on Sunday 6th September 2020. You can read more about Sue Ryder's response to the virus, or contact our team for more information.
The Edinburgh Marathon route starts on Potterrow in the grounds of one of the oldest universities in the world.
This incredible city centre start takes you through the very heart of Edinburgh. You pass Greyfriars Bobby, the National Museum of Scotland, Arthur's Seat and even run down the Royal Mile to the historic Holyrood Park, before heading east along the course to finish in Musselburgh.
