Following the sell-out success of the first Run Bolton Abbey, the event is back for its second edition.
Entries close at midday on Friday 9th November 2018. There are no on-the-day entries accepted.
IMPORTANT NEWS: ROAD CLOSURE - The B6160 at Bolton Abbey is completely closed to traffic due to roadworks on Sunday and there is no access to the Cavendish Pavillion Car Park from the A59. Participants have two options:
- Access the B6160 via Embsay and then Eastby and approach the Cavendish Pavillion Car Park from the North (10-mile diversion). Do not approach via Halton East as this does not avoid the closure.
- Drive towards Bolton Abbey from the A59 on the B6160 and park in the village car park before the road closure. The walk to the registration and start/finish area is just over a mile from here. Your Car Park Pass will be accepted in this car park.
About the event
In 2017, over 1,300 runners enjoyed running in the stunning scenery of Bolton Abbey and we raised almost £30,000 to support the brilliant work of Sue Ryder .
There is a choice of distances to suit all abilities of runners – a 10K, 10 mile, half marathon and a 2-mile fun run. This is a unique opportunity to run on parts of the estate not usually accessible to the public and we guarantee the autumnal colours will be stunning!

A unique fundaising experience
The routes are on a mixture of paths, tracks, woodland trails and open land. You'll run through Strid Wood, over Dicken Dike, climb the Valley of Desolation and the Launde Plantation and take on a stretch of Barden Fell.
All routes start and finish at the Cavendish Pavillion Car Park and benefit from chip-timing.
All participants will receive a bespoke Run Bolton Abbey Medal as they did last year.
We listened to your feedback last year and have made some changes
We held our hands up after the 2017 event and admitted we got some things wrong, but these issues have been addressed for 2018.
We’ve made some adjustments to the 10K route, and added two gates where we had stiles last year. The start will also be staggered in order to spread the runners out more and the 10K route has changed to avoid bottlenecks.
To get the public into the estate quicker, the parking fee has been absorbed into the event entry fee for 2018 so you will drive straight in without stopping.
Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment!
