All routes start and finish at Dean Close School. This year riders will be allocated specific arrival times (subject to their chosen route) with the order of departure remaining with the 130km heading out first followed by the 90km and 40km. Arrival times and further information will be emailed to all riders in advance.
At the start and out on our routes you will offered support by local bike mechanics, in additional our team of marshals and volunteers on the course located at refreshment stops and water stations will be there to cheer you round and keep you hydrated.
Fundraising for our care
Your fundraising is vital to helping us be there when it matters, providing expert and compassionate care from the only palliative in-patient hospice in the county.
All entrants will receive a finisher’s medal, Early Bird sign ups also receive a food voucher for one hot meal at the finish and all riders raising over £145 in sponsorship will be rewarded with a Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice cycling jersey to ride in on the day.
For your safety and the safety of our suppliers, staff and volunteers, there will be measures in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and also adhere to the relevant guidelines at the time. Measurements will include (but not be restricted to); specific arrival times allocated in advance, controlled waves with limited rider numbers and restricted use of indoor facilities.
We kindly ask all riders (online and on the day entries) not to come onsite before your arrival time. This will enable us to manage the number of people onsite, the flow of riders and sterilise certain areas, ultimately providing a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. Your cooperation with this is very much appreciated.
Again for the safety of all involved, we are kindly asking all riders to administer a lateral flow test the evening before and to log the result on the Government self-reporting website. As you will appreciate, not only is the start/finish venue a school site, our volunteers, staff and healthcare team in attendance work in a controlled environment and may come into contact (directly or indirectly) with our patients and families receiving our care.
We will be constantly reviewing guidelines to keep up to date with pandemic regulations and as such we cannot guarantee that we will be able to offer places on the day of the event as we have in the past – so please book early to ensure your place!
Please note, our routes are designed to be challenging but with three distances; 40km, 90km & 130km, there is a route to appeal to all cycling abilities.
We ask you, please, to select the route that is most appropriate for your level of fitness and experience.
Our 130km route has a number of significant climbs, with a total ascent of over 6,200 feet, including three classic Cotswold climbs: Stanway, Dovers and Saintbury Hills. To enjoy this route you will have to have trained or be an experienced cyclist and be capable of completing the course at an average of over 12mph.
Please contact the Leckhampton Court Fundraising Team should you wish to discuss the routes in more detail prior to entering.
