Celebrating St John's Hospice volunteers

St John's Hospice volunteers

St John's volunteers Barry Watson, Pat Vacher and Pippa Hawker

To celebrate National Volunteering week, and all the wonderful support we get from our volunteers, St John's Hospice held a volunteer get together on the patio in the glorious sunshine.

Fifty volunteers came together on the day to enjoy tea and cakes, quizzes and conversation. Amongst them were St John’s volunteers Barry Watson, who has volunteered as a events and parking volunteer for five years, Pat Vacher who has volunteered in our shop for 10 years, and Pippa Hawker who has also volunteered in our shop and as a driver for 10 years.

On the day we awarded 30 Long Service Awards to volunteers who have been supporting us individually for up to 20 years. Collectively these volunteers have amassed 245 years volunteering experience, something that has helped us deliver our services and support patients and their family members at our hospice and within the community.

It not very often we get the chance to treat our volunteers - they are all so busy supporting us - so having the opportunity to say a special thank you is important to us.

Thank you to all and every one of our volunteers, we couldn't do it without you.
