After popular demand, the Starlight Hike is back on Saturday 3rd September, with places available now. Last year the event raised over £60,000 and this year we’re hoping to raise even more, with all money raised through sponsorship going to our services - helping us continue providing care to patients and their families at Manorlands Hospice.
A wonderful night for all
Registration is now open now and costs just £12 for adults and £5 for under 16’s as part of our early-bird deal. Sign up today to join us under the stars!
Hayley Ibbotson, senior fundraiser and event organiser at Manorlands Hospice said: “The Starlight Hike is a fantastic way of getting family, friends and colleagues together to raise funds for the hospice and we hope lots of people from the local community will get together and support the event once again.”
The walk will begin at Oxenhope Railway Station where there’ll be stalls, music, entertainment and a warm-up for all participants. The first group of walkers will board the Starlight Express, generously provided by Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, at approximately 7:30pm, which will take them to the start line for the 10km walk.
Remembering loved ones with our special route
Our Starlight Hike route includes the stunning Starlight Avenue, where people can stop and hang stars in dedication of loved ones’ lives. It’s a way for the participants to have a memorable experience on the walk by remembering the people who are no longer in their lives. After finishing, participants will receive a luxury goody bag and nourishing meal as congratulations for taking part, completing the walk, and as a thank you for helping raise funds for an incredible cause.
Previous participants have decided to return this year, such as Corrine, who said, “I think the most memorable part of the walk last year was when we came off the Starlight Express and walked up to the top of the hill, we looked back and there was just a trail of fluorescent lights and the happy chatter of people. As we walked along the road most of the cars were tooting their horns and waving in support and it just made the night amazing!”
Become a Starlight Hike Volunteer
If you’d like to volunteer at the event we’re looking for route marshalls and general helpers to ensure everyone is safe and having a good time. We’re also looking for new Volunteer Event Ambassadors, in interested in helping us promote the event beforehand.
Manorlands Hospice would also like to say a big thank you to the main event sponsors, Stirk and Lambert accountants of Keighley, who have offered invaluable support whilst preparing for this year’s hike.
We hope the night will be, once again a huge success and that everybody will get involved. Join us for a night under the stars and take part in this year’s Starlight Hike.
