Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is in Oxenhope, near Keighley. As well as expert palliative care, we support people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We work across Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven, and North and Bradford.
Hospice care is what we call the treatment and support we offer to people with life-limiting conditions. We combine specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms, with other emotional, practical and spiritual support. You might stay with us to receive inpatient care for a short time, or a longer stay. We can offer the same services and care to you as a visitor, by using our Day Services, if you are comfortable and supported at home and prefer to stay there. We will also visit you in your own home.

If you choose to stay with us at Manorlands, our doors are always open for your friends and family to visit, and we’ll warmly welcome them. You’ll receive expert care, with specialists on hand to monitor your symptoms and your comfort, dealing with pain, breathlessness, and nausea.
On the medical side, our experienced doctors, Sue Ryder Nurses, care assistants, physiotherapists, occupational and complementary therapists all work brilliantly together to support you. Our Family Support and Spiritual Care teams are always ready to talk too.
Accessing help while you’re living at home
If you’re comfortable at home, but need some advice or assistance, come in and try our Day Services. Connect with other people in similar circumstances, and our staff can suggest ways to improve your wellbeing and manage symptoms.
During Day Services you can check in with our medical teams: we offer procedures here such as blood transfusions and physiotherapy if you’d rather avoid a hospital visit. There are lots of activities to try, from complementary therapies like Reiki, massage, and acupuncture, to arts and crafts and more – and we support your carers too.
Our teams will visit you at home for palliative care if you’d prefer. Sue Ryder Nurses can coordinate treatment with your GP to make your care is controlled and consistent.

Frequently asked questions
How can I be referred/make a referral?
You can refer yourself, or may be referred by your family or a healthcare professional. Your GP or hospital consultant will be contacted before a referral is accepted.
If you are discharged but then find you need additional support, you can be referred back into our care at any time.

How much does it cost to use the services at Manorlands Hospice?
The expert care that we provide is free of charge to patients and their families. We rely on the generosity of our supporters to raise funds to cover the majority of our running costs.
What should inpatients bring with them?
When you’re admitted to Manorlands for palliative care we would recommend that you bring:
- A variety of comfortable, loose-fitting day and night clothes
- Shoes and slippers – slip-on if possible
- Personal toiletries and towels
- Personal electrical equipment such as laptops, tablets, iPods and phones
- Current medication - in its original packaging if possible
- Community medical paperwork - this could include district nurse notes, a Preferred Priorities of Care document and Advance Directives
- Ear plugs and/or an eye mask for when you wish to rest
- Favourite pictures, photos or albums – we encourage you to personalise your space at the hospice
What is the food like?
We have an in-house catering team that prepare and cook three meals a day. We have an extensive menu with the aim of encouraging you to eat well. We will always do our best to cater to your individual taste.
Our staff can also prepare light meals and snacks for you outside of regular meal times.
What are the visiting times?
We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for friends and family to visit you. It may also be possible for family to stay overnight, please discuss this with the nursing staff first.
Is there parking, and is it free?
Yes, we have free parking available.
Can pets and children visit the hospice?
Yes, your children and grandchildren are always welcome. We view pets as part of the family and well-behaved pets are very welcome to visit. Please ask a member of the nursing team if you would like to arrange this.
Is there WiFi?
Yes, there is WiFi. Please ask a member of staff for the WiFi name and password.
