All new staff undertake an in-depth induction programme during their first six months in post. This runs alongside our probation procedure. The training programme is built around the needs of the individual to enable them to carry out the role they have been employed to undertake.
Subjects covered include health and safety, fire safety, confidentiality, infection control procedures and manual handling. Also included are more role-specific topics, for example overviews of the complex long-term neurological conditions staff are likely to come across whilst working here.
Throughout the year all members of staff are expected to attend mandatory training sessions to meet professional and regulatory requirements. This include safe-guarding, management of falls, equality and diversity, and managing challenging behaviour.
Our Practice Educator has very close links with higher and further education institutes, local community services and health and social care providers.
We have a close relationship with the University of Suffolk and offer placements to student nurses.
