Stagenhoe is a Sue Ryder specialist neurological care centre based near Hitchin, Hertfordshire, caring for people aged 18 and over who have life-changing conditions affecting the brain and nervous system. We are here for people with degenerative conditions which get worse over time – such as Huntington's, motor neurone disease and multiple sclerosis – as well as those with acquired conditions resulting from a brain or spinal injury or stroke.

Our care services

We offer a wide range of support, from long-term residential care in our 45-bed centre to short-stay respite care. Our expert care team includes nurses, physiotherapists and care assistants. However we're supporting people, our focus is on making sure they live their lives as fully as possible. That means ensuring they feel in control of choices and involved in all the decisions that affect their life and their care.

Meet the team

  • Paul Osborne

    Neurological Centre Director

    Paul is the registered manager and has responsibility for the overall operation of the centre. Paul comes from a nursing and general management background, having spent 32 years in the NHS.

  • Pamela Grandison

    Practice Educator

    Pam is responsible for education at the centre, ranging from mandatory training to supporting external training. The centre provides placements for student nurses from the University of Hertfordshire.

  • Nicky Phillips

    Head of Care

    Nicky leads the clinical team at the centre. She has worked for Sue Ryder for over 20 years spanning three different neurological centres.
