Sarah Gigg

Director of Nursing

Sarah Gigg joined Sue Ryder as Director of Nursing in June 2018.

Previously, Sarah qualified as a general nurse in 1990 and went on to gain a BSc in Health Studies and a MA in Leadership in Health and Social Care. During 25 years specialising in cancer care, Sarah worked in clinical and operational roles across London within the acute, private and the voluntary sectors, including as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Cancer Manager and Trust Lead Cancer Nurse.

Recently Sarah worked for Macmillan Cancer Care leading a range of programmes in partnership with health care providers, commissioners and voluntary organisations including hospices to redesign and improve cancer and end of life services. Before joining Sue Ryder Sarah worked at Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust as Deputy Director of Nursing, holding strategic responsibility for a varied profile to improve the quality and experience of patient care.

Sarah’s keen interest in health care leadership now sees her studying for the Nye Bevan award. With a passion for equality and equity in health care, Sarah is committed to enabling the most effective care culture to consistently deliver compassionate, high-quality patient-centred care.
