Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Sue Ryder

We are working hard to create a culture where all people feel safe, confident and are valued for the unique contribution they bring to our organisation. At Sue Ryder, we embrace and welcome everyone.

Working towards a more inclusive working culture

We’ve made progress, but we know there’s lots more to do. Moving forward we’ll continue to access our policies, structures and ways of working to ensure we are inclusive to the most marginalised and underrepresented groups. We are ambitious in our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion work.

We want our teams to include people from a wide variety of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives who can bring knowledge and lived experience to the many roles across Sue Ryder. From our healthcare teams, to retail roles in our charity shops, central service teams, our domestic teams in our hospices and volunteers who help us in so many ways to be there when it matters.

Our aim is for our workforce to reflect the people we support through our work and services, and the communities we serve across the UK.

We believe in the power of employee networks. We have four networks that bring together people with shared lived experiences and shared identities, plus allies. Those networks are:

  • Ethnic Diversity and Equality network
  • People with Disabilities network
  • LGBTQ+ network
  • Women and Non-Binary Individuals network

Our employee networks drive change by helping us to reflect and understand the communities we serve. Our networks support our people, create safe spaces and identify opportunities to make change happen.

Our networks welcome everyone. Including every gender, age, disability, gender identity and expression, marital status, race, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave. They'll ensure that you are always treated with dignity and respect, supporting you as part of the team, every step of the way.
