A portable appliance test (PAT test) ensures appliances are electrically safety-tested and will not cause damage or injury to the user.
Most electrical safety defects can be found by visual examination, but some types of defect can only be found by testing them. PAT-testing of electricals is a legal requirement in all our shops.
Examples of the electrical appliances that require testing are microwaves, lamps, vacuum cleaners, printers, stereos and portable heaters. Appliances that are permanently affixed to a building structure are not included in PAT regulations because they are not portable – items such as electrical heating or cooling units, built-in lighting and some refrigerators.
Although PAT testing only guarantees electrical safety, we can offer customers a full refund if they are not happy with the functionality of their electrical product.
