About Banbury

Banbury started as a village in the 12th century and was originally called Bannas Burh - Burh is a Saxon word meaning fortress or fortified settlement. Over time it became changed to Bury. Banbury has gone from being the oldest market town in the country to a thriving industrial town for electronics, engineering, manufacturing and of course F1 racing.
