Event cancelled

As the event has grown, it has become increasingly complex and costly to deliver in its current format.

This, combined with our team’s current capacity and resources, means we’re not confident we can deliver the event to the high safety standards participants expect and deserve.

We know this news will be disappointing for the many riders, volunteers and supporters who have made this event so special over many years. This is a much-loved and long-running event, and we share in that disappointment.

Over the years, Ride for Ryder has inspired thousands of people to take on a personal challenge and has raised significant funds to for families needing our care.

This was not an easy decision, and we’re sorry for the impact this has. We know how much this event means to so many people, but we have a responsibility to the safety of our riders, and to the wellbeing of the team of colleagues and volunteers who work so hard to deliver the event.

We’re keeping plans for Ride for Ryder 2027 under review and will share our plans well in advance.

Alternative events you can take on

We’re committed to supporting those who had planned to take part and will be in touch with everyone who has registered to make refund arrangements, letting them know about other events where they can challenge themselves and continue to raise vital funds for Sue Ryder.

If you haven’t signed up for Ride for Ryder yet, you can help us raise vital funds by registering your place for the Hell of the North Cotswolds or the Cotswolds Sportive 100, organised by UK Velo, who we have made links with to welcome cyclists wishing to raise funds for Sue Ryder.

Fundraising

How a family spends their final days together should always be on their own terms. However they choose to say goodbye, we can make sure the room is always filled with love.

Your fundraising means that we can be there when it matters, providing expert end-of-life care and bereavement support.
