Stepping Out is an innovative and unique programme with a proven successful track record in South Yorkshire. Dedicated to breaking down the barriers that stop disabled people participating fully in their community, this unique service meets all of a persons needs by tackling transport, access, equipment and personal care issues through a single point of contact working for the individual across the many care, social and leisure services in the area.
Stepping Out is funded and is for anyone with a neurological condition and it helps people to independently access community leisure facilities. The service is run on a Thursday in the Doncaster area and can accommodate 8 clients for up to six months. Transport is provided (mini bus), together with 4 trained staff. Referrals can be via Social/Health workers or from individuals who have heard about the service.
Stepping Out's individual approach promotes happy, healthy and fulfilling lifestyles for people with any neurological conditions that truly reflects the vision of Sue Ryder - 'Care that liberates lives'.
