Make a gift that won't cost you a penny

Gift Aid is a really simple way of raising extra money - money that will help us help more people in need of our expert care.

Thanks to the kindness of people like you, since April 2008 Sue Ryder has claimed more than £300,000 in tax from our fundraising activities. As you can imagine this is an enormous boost to our funds and helps us to continue providing compassionate care for people living with conditions including cancer, Multiple Sclerosis, and brain injury.

For example, if you donate £20.00 to Sue Ryder and make a Gift Aid declaration, we can claim an additional £5.64 from the taxman.

Can I Gift Aid my donation?

For your donation to qualify for Gift Aid, you must be a UK tax payer and pay enough income tax or capital gains tax to at least equal the amount that Sue Ryder will claim on your donations made in that tax year. For example, if you were to generously donate £100 to Sue Ryder in one tax year, you must have paid at least £25 tax, which is the amount that we would reclaim in Gift Aid from HMRC.

I want to make a Gift Aid Declaration NOW!

To make a gift aid declaration please either download the form below, give us a call, send us an email or drop us a line. Thank you for heping us help more.

Download Sue Ryder's Gift Aid form. Please complete the form and send it back to us using our freepost address: Sue Ryder Central Office, LON20634 London WC1B 5BR.

You can also make a declaration over the phone if you'd rather. If you'd like to do this or if you have any questions please get in touch with us on 0845 050 1953 or email us.

Are you a higher rate tax payer? Well there's good news for you too!

Not only can Sue Ryder claim back the tax on your gift at the basic rate, but you too can benefit from your donation.

You can claim tax relief at a rate of 20% on the total value of your donation - which is the difference between higher and lower rate tax. For example, as a higher rate tax payer donating £100 to Sue Ryder we can claim £28 from HMRC, increasing the value of your gift to £128. You can then claim 20% on the £100 that you donate to receive £25 tax relief.  So it costs you just £75 to make a £128 donation!

It couldn't be simpler either - just include the details of your charitable gifts on your self-assessment tax form or tell the tax office over the phone.

Did you know you can nominate Sue Ryder to receive your tax refund and you can ask for this to be treated as a gift aid donation?  All you need to do is use Sue Ryder's unique code : SAR98UG on your self assessment form and your refund is electronically transferred to Sue Ryder. Give us a call for more information or have a look at the HMRC website.

What if I'm not a UK taxpayer?

Don't worry, there's still a way you can help.  By letting us know that your donation is not eligible for Gift Aid we can update our records to ensure that we don't contact you about this again. This will save us time and money, ensuring that valuable donations go where they are needed.
