We support people living through the challenges of life-changing illness. We support people in our residential and day centres, day clinics, in the community or at home. We help people affected by cancer, multiple sclerosis, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, motor neurone disease, stroke, brain injury and life changing illnesses.

What treasure are hiding in your wardrobe?

Give us the best of what you no longer use...

Please donate good quality, clean reusable items to our shops during opening times.

We accept any of the following:

  • Clothing from baby wear to ball gowns
  • Shoes
  • China, kitchenware, collectables, pictures and ornaments
  • Soft furnishings: small rugs, linen, curtains
  • Toys and Games
  • CD's and DVD's
  • Music and musical instruments
  • Jewellery, bags and accessories

At many of our shops we accept furniture and electrical goods:

  • Settees
  • Wardrobes
  • Tables and chairs
  • Cabinets
  • Beds
  • Small working electrical goods e.g. table lamps, DVD players, musical appliances

Often we are able to collect free of charge from your home. Please contact any one of our shops direct to offer the donation and make any necessary arrangements.  Our staff will ask you some simple questions about the item as we must ensure that it is saleable. If you are donating an item of soft furnishing we may ask if it has the fire retardant labels attached. Without them, we are unable to sell it as it is a legal requirement.

If you are unsure whether we would like an item, please contact our staff at your local Sue Ryder shop.

Donations that are broken, dirty, or do not comply with trading standards and are unusable have to be thrown away and this costs the charity money

Recycling and reuse

There are a number of items including mobile phones and ink/toner cartridges that we can accept and recycle.  To learn more about our recycling initiatives click here.

We also accept donations of foreign currency

Working in partnership with Coin Co International plc we are able to turn your unused foreign currency into funds to provide essential healthcare services.

Between September 2004 and December 2007, Sue Ryder received £16,513 as a result of our kind donations of unused foreign currency.  Please continue to donate your small change in store.
