Annette Wallis chose to ride the waves in her Ride for Ryder challenge and canoe 90 miles along the river Wye.
Setting off at 6am on Sunday 20 June, Annette soon realised the only way home was by canoe. Annette and her husband stopped at various campsites along the week including one where the only facilities was an outside tap at the cow shed! Apparently the facilities did improve at some of the campsites!
Annette describes the highlights as “seeing the beautiful scenery and wonderful wildlife including king fishers and ducklings and eating at a pub that had no menu, you just get what you are given!”
After the week’s experience of canoeing and camping Annette said “We did it and I am amazed how much I enjoyed myself”. So far Annette has raised a fantastic £400 for Sue Ryder.
