53 runners, of all ages and abilities, from across the country took to the streets of London yesterday to run 26.2 miles in aid of Sue Ryder. Collectively the runners are hoping to raise £100,000.
Laura Savory, Running and Challenge Events Manager at Sue Ryder, said: "It was the most fantastic day - I'm so proud of all our runners who did incredibly well. Roll on 2011!"
One of Sue Ryder's runners, George Bingham (49) from West Yorkshire had double celebrations yesterday, as not only did he raise an incredible £42,000 for Sue Ryder, but he completed the course wearing a 1/12th replica scale model of The Angel of the North (unfortunately George was pipped to the 'tall post' by an unknown very tall giraffe to take the World Record for wearing the tallest costume whilst running the London Marathon).
