Radio1's local hero campaign kick-starts at Sue Ryder

20 April 2010

This Monday (19 April) infamous Radio 1 hip hop DJ, Tim Westwood and pop singer, Alexandra Burke, tried their hands at volunteering in Sue Ryder’s Muswell Hill shop in London.

The day’s activities kick-started Radio 1 and Radio 1Xtra’s ‘local hero’ campaign in which DJ Westwood takes on a daily volunteering challenge this week.  The aim of the campaign is that Westwood and celebrity guests will be able to showcase a variety of volunteering 'taster sessions' to Radio 1 and 1Xtra listeners to give an idea of the range of opportunities available to them.

See how DJ Westwood and Alexandra Burke got on at Sue Ryder’s Muswell Hill shop at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/localhero/
