Air Ryder 9 October 2009

Geoff Halstead (24) lost his Father to cancer nearly three years ago. He was cared for at Sue Ryder - Manorlands Hospice. While on a post-graduate scheme at Airbus, Geoff managed to convince 25 other students to cycle from Bristol to Paris in suport of the charity. They have raised just £15,790 which will be split between Sue Ryder and Great Western Air Ambulance.

Geoff said: "Through personal experience I know what a fantastic job Sue Ryder does throughout the country. Graduates from Airbus have been involved with Sue Ryder for a couple of years and I really wanted to help fundraise for them and raise their profile throughout the company.

Over the past few years Airbus have entered a team into the annual Bristol Dragon Boat Festival and this year we continued the tradition in winning style. Not only was it an awesome day on the water but we also managed to raise nearly £1000 with doughnut sales and bucket collections over the past couple of months.

Sue Ryder was also adopted as one of the Airbus graduates charity of choice when 25 of us undertook a 400km cycle ride, aptly named the Air Ryder Challenge, from Filton to Paris to celebrate the end of our graduate scheme. The event at the start of September was a huge success and is due to raise over £15,000 for Sue Ryder and the Great Western Air Ambulance."

Thanks Geoff!
