Nearly 150 ladies took part in The Trafford Centre’s first late night Mall Walk in aid of healthcare charity Sue Ryder last Saturday!
The ladies all successfully completed the 10km route around the exterior and through the interior of The Trafford Centre, and even managed to fit in some window shopping! They had a warm welcome back across the finish line and onto the stage in The Orient to pick up their well deserved medal, goody bag and refreshments. Goody bags were packed full with kind donations from Yakult, L’Oreal, Scholl, Soreen and Kellogg’s.
The ladies enjoyed a party atmosphere before embarking on their walk, with a dance performance by students from local dance school The Dance Works based in Eccles. They were then taken through a rigorous warm up by a local trainer from British Military Fitness, who then joined in with the walk too!
On the night ladies pledged £10, 675 through sponsorship for Sue Ryder, and an extra £2000 was raised through registration and a raffle where one lucky Mall Walker went home with a giant cheque for a free European holiday for all the family courtesy of Thomson Al Fresco.
Emma Siddle, event organiser said “The Mall Walk was an exciting opportunity for women to gather together and have some time to spend with their family, colleagues or friends in a fun way. I am delighted so many women decided to take part and support the work carried out by the charity, and would like to thanks all the walkers, volunteers, sponsors and the staff at The Trafford Centre for making the night a success .”
“The event was a huge triumph and will be even bigger and better next year”
