David Tribe, chairman of the Epsom and Ewell Art Group has submitted an interesting piece to this year’s Art Liberating Lives event. The piece, entitled ‘Thanks Mayor Ken’, is synonymous with and relevant to London Life and was inspired by an alternative slant on liberation. Since retiring David has experienced the benefits of the ‘freedom pass’ and the flexibility it provides. The emancipation of the older generation is illustrated perfectly in his piece with the hustle and bustle of Tottenham Court Road tube station as a backdrop.
David’s work has been exhibited at the Mall Galleries once before when he participated in the Elderly Accommodation Council’s exhibition. “It was a honour to be exhibited at the Mall Galleries, I paint regularly and submit work to both national and local competitions. The piece I have submitted to the Art Liberating Lives exhibition, I feel is relevant and indicative of the liberation of the retired generation when travelling into a large busy city like London where there is so much to do”, says David, he went on to say “I would encourage any amateur artist no matter what their skill level is, to keep trying. Having your work exhibited somewhere as prestigious as the Mall Galleries gives a great sense of achievement”.
