Here at Sue Ryder we obviously already know how awesome charity shops are for fashion finds.
But if you’re a charity shop newbie, do not fear; we’ve got five insider tips on putting together an individual look.
1. Be adventurous
Don’t be afraid to choose items you normally wouldn’t go for. Remember, things look different off the hanger, so use your imagination and experiment with different looks in the changing room.
2. Visit frequently
Our stock changes pretty quickly, so if you want to find those hidden gems, pop in and say hello often. New items come in every day, so there more you're there, the more chance you have of finding that perfect item!
3. Go vintage
Our vintage shops are a gold mine of fashion and accessories. Trust us – something retro is the perfect addition to your original look. Don’t forget, we also sell some of our vintage and retro stock on eBay, so be sure to check this out too.
4. Make easy alterations
Dig out your sewing machine and make the item right for you. Or if your short for time pop to the dry cleaners for a made-to-measure fit.
5. Head to Style Me In Seconds
Want some inspiration first? This Saturday (9 April) Sue Ryder staff will be smack bang in the heart of fashionable Shoreditch and Old Street tube station at Style Me In Seconds
. The event is a chance for members of the public to have a fashionable makeover at the hands of professional stylists using clothing from charity shops.
It’s run by the Charity Retail Association
and has been taking place all this week with many different charities being involved. But tomorrow, Saturday, is our turn - and Sue Ryder staff will be on hand to offer makeovers and even more tips using clothes from some of our best shops.
It’s going to be fabulous, so if you’re in London get yourself down there and get involved!
