Hospice day services
By using day care services, patients are helped to remain at home for as long as possible, if this is their wish, whilst receiving support from the hospice team.
Our day services offer care that is personalised to the individual's needs, focusing on patients' and families' specific problems, changing the level of care as and when required.
We have a large team of professionals who can be involved in providing care. This includes nurses, social workers, complementary therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and our spiritual care team. All these professionals are here to support our patients and their families.
There is a strong social element to our day services, where patients and families are able to get to know each other and engage in different activities which are on offer if they would like, such as art and music therapies.
Day care is usually attended one day a week for several weeks then the patient's needs and care are re-assessed. Sometimes it is more suitable for a patient to visit as an outpatient.
A neurology day service is also available for those local to Thorpe Hall Hospice, Peterborough.
To receive our treatments and attend our services, patients are referred to us by their GP or the community nurse specialist.
