The Keighley BigK is a challenging 10K or 5K at the start of the running season that follows a circular route through the paths, parks and roads of Keighley. This event is held in aid of Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

Manorlands, based in Oxenhope in West Yorkshire, cares for people over the age of 18 living with conditions such as cancer, liver failure and heart disease. Each year the hospice must find £2.3m to provide its services, and events such as this are key in ensuring these services continue.

Calling all keen sponsors!

Usually the generous support of our corporate sponsors means that all of our participants' entry fees go straight to funding our care. If your business would like to join our team of partners and have your logo on our promotional materials, please get in touch at manorlands.fundraising@sueryder.org.

Run for mum

Many participants help our care further by raising sponsorship to take part, though there is no obligation to do so. As the event is held on Mothers’ Day, many people take part in memory of their mum and others do it with their mum or to make her proud. 

About the runs

BigK 10K

The event starts at 9.00am. We ask that people arrive by 8.20am to register, collect their timing chip and race number. This year we will not be sending out packs by post so you will receive all details by email.

In addition to water at the water stations, participants will receive a Keighley BigK  technical T-shirt and all mothers who cross the line will receive a red carnation as a gift on Mothers’ Day.

BigK 5K

Following the successful first run of the 5K route in 2017, we will again be taking entries for this race as it enters its second year.

Please note: this race starts in Lund Park at 9.15am and the route joins the 10K runners for a finish in Victoria Park. It is the participants' own responsibility to get to this position for registration and get back to the car after the finish.

Participants receive the same goodies as above.

Entry costs and medals


Individual entry or numerous individual entries can be made by clicking the 'Register for this event' button.

Standard entry is £15 subject to capacity while under 18s entry costs £10.

Medals are awarded for the first three home in each of 13 different age/gender categories.

There are also awards for the individual and group of individuals who raise the highest level of sponsorship.

Teams and running clubs

There will also be an award for the running club with the fastest five female members home and the fastest five male members, so please remember to select your club when you enter.

Teams of five people can enter representing an organisation, club or group. The entry rate is £60 per team of five. The organisation they represent will have the opportunity to place promotional materials in the event goody bag and have a banner placed at the start finish area on the day.

As in previous years, there is an award for the organisation, the school/college and the gym/fitness centre/sports club that enter the most participants too.

There is also an award for the team that raises the most for Sue Ryder Manorlands in sponsorship.

To enter a single team, people should use the register for this event tab and follow instructions for team entry. Where organisations have multiple teams to enter, however, it might be easier to email andrew.wood@sueryder.org for guidance.

  • How will I receive a Sue Ryder vest?

    During the registration process you will be asked to give the vest size you require - if applicable to the event. Your vest will be posted to you directly using the address stated in your registration.

  • How can I get a training plan?

    You’ll find your personalised training plan in your welcome pack. If you didn’t receive one in your pack or you wish to change it, then just let the Events Team know.

  • Where can I find fundraising ideas?

    Our jam-packed fundraising guide can be found in both your welcome pack and also on our website. Our Events Team are also on hand with fundraising ideas and tips too, and you can get in contact with them by emailing events@sueryder.org or calling 0207 554 5958.

  • How can I pay in my fundraising?

    If you’ve set up an online fundraising page (e.g. Virgin Money Giving) then your fundraising will automatically come us. If you have any cheques, you can send them to the Events Team in the London Office. Just make sure you pop your name and event on the back. Alternatively, you can drop in your fundraising to any of our hospices.
