Get involved in the world's largest mascot race!
The world's largest mascot race, the Mascot Gold Cup, sponsored by Rotherwood Recruitment and run in conjunction with Riddlesden Manorlands support group, returns to Wetherby Racecourse and Conference Centre on their Family Day race meeting, Sunday 23rd April 2017.
This is the 12th year running of the Mascot Gold Cup, which, in 2015, set the Guinness World Record for the most Mascots in a race.
Get involved in this year's event and have a great day out at Wetherby Races while helping us at Sue Ryder to continue our incredible care for those with incurable illness.
The sooner that you sign up, the more time your organisation will be promoted on our 'Entries so far?' web page. Grab your credit card and sign up now!
Mascots will be sent a complimentary race day pass for themselves and one for a helper. Each mascot can purchase unlimited extra tickets at a half-price rate (if ordered in advance), so why not make a great work, group or family trip out of your Mascot Gold Cup race day?
Interested, but no mascot? Or is yours a bit threadbare?
Get in touch! We have a 'stable' of mascots that can be 'adopted' for the day on a first come first served basis.
If your mascot is in need of some TLC before his or her next outing, or if you need to create an all-new custom mascot, you'll be delighted to know that we are working with Costumes with Character, who are giving a discount to participants of the Mascot Gold Cup.
Want to race for another charity?
We know that many other charities have mascots and we'd still love you to take part.
All we ask is that you pay the entry fee, which goes to Sue Ryder, but then all the sponsorship money you raise goes towards your own good cause.
Firstly, mascots first take part in the Mascot Parade, where punters can place their bets on their favourites, then there is a one-minute mascot warm-up before the race itself. Mascots run the final furlong in front of the cheering grandstands - that's 220 yards and negotiating 6 small fences.
This year's race theme is yet to be decided but, once announced, mascots will be encouraged to dress up accordingly because one of the prizes in the mascot parade is 'Best Turned-Out Mascot' on the theme.
Mascot's registration: 12 noon - 12:55pm
Mascot Parade: 1:00pm - 1:30pm
First Horse Race: 2:00pm
Mascot Gold Cup: 2:15pm
Horse-racing until 5:30pm

Entry costs £40, which includes 2 complimentary passes to the Wetherby Racecourse family race day.
Mascots will receive two complimentary race day passes and those going along to support them are sent a half-price ticket voucher for unlimited numbers. Plus, under-16s get in free!
If your group or organisation doesn't have a credit card, please email firstname.lastname@example.org who will send you a paper entry form that you can return with a cheque.
