The Keighley BigK 10K, a huge success!

Thank you all for turning out in such great numbers on 18th March for the 2012 Keighley BigK 10K run/walk and supporting Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice in the process.  Thanks to your support, many records were smashed for the event, including the most entries at 1068 and the largest ever field of runners at 907.  In terms of funds raised for the work of the hospice we hope that the event will bring in approximately £45,000 if everyone can send in the sponsorship that they pledged to us on the day.  A huge boost to this figure is down to the staff of Acorn Stairlifts who between them have raised almost £15,000 to whom we are sincerely grateful.

Anyone wishing to send in sponsorship should send a cheque made payable to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice and send it to: Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, Hebden Road, Oxenhope, Keighley, West Yorkshire, BD22 9HJ. Please include your sponsor form so that we can claim as much gift aid as possible and put your name and the event on the back of the cheque please so that we can thank you properly.

Please click here to see provisional results of the events.  For category positions click here and for corporate team positions click here. The junior fun run results can be seen here.  If you see a problem with the results please email me on andrew.wood@sueryder.org and I'll make any corrections.  There are 4 people for whom we didn't have times, sorry about that but if you let us know what the clock read as you came through we'll include that. Those of you in top three medal positions will shortly be issued with your medals.

Photographs

You might also want to go to www.sportsunday.co.uk to see pictures of the event.  We receive 50p from every photo purchased from this site.  There will also be photos from the start finish area on our Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice facebook page within hours.

Our other great events

We hope you enjoyed the event and if you did you may be interested to know about our other great events throughout the year.  The next one is the world's largest Mascot Race, the Mascot Gold Cup at Wetherby Races family day meeting on 29 April. See www.mascotgoldcup.org.uk for more details.  Following that there is our new horse riding event, Mount Up for Manorlands staged in the stunning Yorkshire Dales on 27 May. For more on this see www.mountupformanorlands.org.uk .  For keen cyclists we have the Bronte Sportive on 15 July and the Bronte Mountain Bike Challenge on 23 September.  Sandwiched between these is Woodfest the Live Music festival set on the farm Lees Moor, Crossroads on 27 and 28 July.

I'm sure you will all join me in thanking our wonderful team of volunteers who helped with setting up the event, registration and marshaling of the route.  Without their support we simply couldn't hold the Keighley BigK 10K. The police were also awesome yesterday so a big thank you to them.
