Mount up for Manorlands 2012

Mount Up for Manorlands is a charity horse ride in the stunning scenery of the Yorkshire Dales.  The event sponsored by Whitakers animal feed of Keighley is held in the Coniston Estate, Coniston Cold,  nr. Skipton and participants have the option to tackle some of the fences used for their annual Hunter Trials in the Coniston Estate.  The routes then head out on tracks, quiet lanes and bridleways up the dale towards Malham before looping back to the start.

People can chose to do the ride on their own or in groups of up to 5 people.

The majority of proceeds will go to Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice who care for over 700 people from Airedale, Craven and the Dales each year suffering from cancer and other life limiting ilnesses. However participants can choose to support one of Sue Ryder's other care centres in the North if they wish.

3 Routes to choose from To make this an event that all levels can enjoy and be challenged by, there are three routes you can choose from.Riders and horses enjoy a trekk in the Yorkshire Dales

The shortest is approximately 7 miles and undulating rather than hilly. On leaving the Coniston Estate it heads to Bell Busk and Airton before turning east towards Eshton. It then heads back into the estate for the finish. To view a map of this route click here.

The intermediate route gives riders the option of riding anywhere between 8 miles and 14 miles.  The route is based on the 7 mile route loop but incorporates a spur up a long bridleway to the summit of Weets Top. Those who reach the summit and turn around do 14 miles, those who decide to turn around for example half way along the bridleway will complete 11 miles. To view the map of this route click here.

The endurance route is a 16 mile loop which should only be tackled by experienced enduranced riders and horses.  This follows the intermediate route to Weets Top but then loops round to the east passing Winterburn reservoir, Hetton and Eshton before rejoining the 7 mile route back into the Coniston Estate to the finish. To view a map of this route click here.

All roads used are very quiet and marshals and signs will be used to slow down traffic. A photographer will be on site as will first aiders.  A Vet will be on call throughout.
