At Thorpe Hall Hospice we have a team of doctors providing medical care to our patients.
The team is led by two palliative medicine consultants and also includes experienced speciality doctors as well as junior doctors at different stages of their training.
Medical students join the team at various times during the year to learn the skills of managing patients with life-limiting illnesses. They are closely supervised by senior doctors.
On admission each patient, and their family if appropriate, will meet with one of our doctors. Following the consultation, a personalised therapy plan will be created involving all the necessary expertise that is available at the hospice. This will be reviewed on a regular basis and adjusted accordingly.
Our team also take their expertise out into the community, other healthcare settings and Cambridge University to support training and education in various aspects of palliative care.
