FAQs

How can I get referred to Nettlebed Hospice?
Referrals to all our services are made by a healthcare professional from hospital and community services. If you would like to access our care please contact your GP, community clinical nurse specialist (CNS) or district nurse who can do this for you.

We accept patients from south Oxfordshire and south Buckinghamshire following agreement with the patient, the healthcare team making the referral and the patient’s GP. We are happy to consider patients from outside these areas if they have a strong preference for receiving care at Nettlebed Hospice.

Can I use my mobile phone?

Yes, that’s fine. Unfortunately, mobile reception can be poor at the hospice. We ask visitors not to use mobile phones in the ward areas out of consideration to the patients.

Can I smoke?

Nettlebed Hospice is smoke-free with the exception of a smoking shelter in the grounds which you can use if considered medically fit to smoke alone.

Can my clothes be washed at the hospice?

Yes, but we have limited laundry facilities so we ask for clothes to be washed at home wherever possible.

Can I have an alcoholic drink?

Alcohol may react with some medication so please discuss with the nurse or doctor first.
