Helen Organ

Director of Legal Counsel and Company Secretary

Helen joined Sue Ryder in October 2006, initially to head up the Legal Department.

In 2007 she became a member of the executive team, taking on the role of Legal Counsel and Company Secretary. Helen believes that the role of the legal department is to find a way to make things happen, rather than find obstacles, and under her leadership this is what the legal department does.

Helen has always taken a great interest in the Charity’s international work. In March 2012, she extended her role and took on responsibility for the International Department and has since been to Malawi and Albania. She's now also an advocate of the Charity’s international work, where so much is done for so little.

Prior to working at Sue Ryder, Helen worked as a solicitor/company secretary in various commercial sectors and had also worked in private practice in New Zealand. She has a BA (Hons) in Philosophy and was admitted as a solicitor in January 1990.

Helen is also a trustee of Ipswich Housing Action Group (IHAG), which is a charity for single homeless people.

Helen’s key ambition for Sue Ryder is that it should become a household name which should then enable it to provide more services to more people. Helen is also keen for the charity to extend its international activities.
